I originally produced this Documentary piece for a college assignment during my Btec National course, my aim was to high light some of the horrific yet unspoken daily torture, bullying, isolation & total emotion destruction that surrounds the all to common, & growing issue of Domestic Violence. This 'Never Ending Circle of Events' piece as a self-reflecting documentary containing my own personal experiences.
I found it very therapeutic creating this piece & I think it helped me immensely in the process of addressing & dealing with the nightmares that still haunt me. When I displayed this piece at college I added a piece of music that really meant a lot to me at the time as well as complementing the images & intended story. The song completely explained my life story spanning the last 13years & explained the mixture of emotions & anger I was feeling at the time perfectly.
It really helped me through my 'awaking period' & in getting my confidence, spark & life back on track. The song was 'Thank You' by Jamelia, for obvious reasons I can't use this song now & it has taken some of the emotion away from the piece, but I do still think the images are strong enough to tell the story alone.
I won Student of the Year Award for this Domestic Violence Documentary.
